Will Jahangir lose the post of mayor?

Gazipur Mayor Jahangir Alam has been expelled from the Awami League for life for allegedly making harsh remarks about Bangabandhu and making controversial remarks about the liberation war. Since he was elected mayor with the party symbol boat, the question now is whether he will have that position.

Responding to a question from reporters about Jahangir to local government minister Tajul Islam at a DAP function at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on Saturday, the minister said, "It is not possible for me to comment on the issue without observing the law." The law will be commented on later. Now there is a mayor. How long you stay will be decided by law.

Earlier, the decision to expel him was taken at a meeting of the Awami League's central executive committee at the Prime Minister's official residence Ganobhaban on Friday.

The meeting was chaired by Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier, on October 3, Mayor Jahangir Alam Sarkar was given a show cause notice. The protest was staged in a letter signed by the party's general secretary Obaidul Quader alleging "anti-interest" activities and breach of organizational discipline.

Recently, Jahangir Alam was accused of making controversial remarks about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the great war of liberation. Which is secretly recorded and published online by one. That audio is viral. Then there were protests in Gazipur demanding the expulsion of Mayor Jahangir.

In this regard, Jahangir Alam Sarkar claimed to the media that a mahal had conspired against me and released an edited video. Later it went viral through social media. It has even been published in some news outlets.

At that time, he further said, the Central Awami League wanted to know the incident from me with a show cause. I will reply in due course.
