A pair of Radha-Krishna idols worth about Rs 20 lakh has been recovered from Sapahar in Naogaon.


An idol of Radha and Krishna worth about Rs 20 lakh has been recovered from Sapahar in Naogaon. The idol was recovered while digging a pond in Bara Mirzapur village of the upazila on Thursday morning. The statue made of black stone weighs 14 kg.


Confirming the incident, Sapahar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tarequr Rahman Sarkar told Dainik Shiksha.com that Abdul Bari, son of Chowdhury Mandal of Bara Mirzapur village, was cutting the soil of the pond with a veku machine near his house. At that time, they saw a broken black stone statue of Radha and Krishna weighing 14 kg. When the locals informed the police station, the police recovered the idol from the spot and brought it to the police station.


He added that the estimated value of the black stone statue is estimated at Rs 20 lakh. The officer-in-charge of the police station said that legal action is being taken against the stone statue.
