Demand for the formation of a special tribunal to try the communal attackers

Leaders of various political, social and cultural organizations have demanded the formation of a special tribunal to try those involved in communal violence in different parts of the country. At the same time, they called the Home Minister a failure in these incidents and demanded his removal and cancellation of state religion.

They made the demands at a protest rally in front of the Shahbagh National Museum on Wednesday (October 20th) afternoon under the banner 'Bangladesh Against Communalism'. Ganajagaran Mancha spokesman was present at the time. Imran H Sarkar, Manas Nandi, central leader of the Bangladesh Socialist Party (Marxist), Mosharraf Hossain Nannu, general secretary of the United Communist League.

Seven-point demands were presented from the rally. These include arresting and prosecuting supporters and supporters of communal violence across the country, removing home ministers who fail to provide security, holding rallies and taking legal action against those who create communal hatred on YouTube and Facebook. To do so, to abolish the communalization of textbooks, to form a 'People's Investigation Committee' to investigate incidents of communal attacks, to implement its recommendations, to amend the constitution, to abolish 'state religion' and to ban religion-based politics.

Among others present at the rally were Professor AN Rasheda, Akramul Haque, leader of the Shahbagh movement against oppression, Imtiaz Mahmud, a lawyer and writer, and SH Shuvro, a former student leader. At the end of the rally, a torch procession will be cut, Nilkhet will be completed and Raju will go to the sculpture.
